Foster Falls on The New River

1800cfs  - Ivanhoe gauge

Ben and I had an awesome time kayaking at Foster Falls.  We joined Bobby C, Tom P, Steve L and others for some perfect weather playboating.  Ben and I quickly loaded the boats after church and made it to the park by 1:30.  We parked at the take-out and Ben rode his bike to the put-in while I walked/jogged.  The group spent a really long time at my favorite spot behind the rock on river left.  We then worked our way across the ledges to river right, where I stopped briefly at the pocket ender spot I like so much.  From there Ben and I headed over to the bottom left surf spot.  At 1800 cfs it was the easiest surf I recall there.  I felt like I could have stayed there all day, where it normally chews me up and spits me out.  Ben had fun surfing, he even side surfed some.  Before we left we floated in our pfds through the last hole.  Just a great day.
